How are my charging electricity costs reimbursed when using a photovoltaic system? At what price per kWh?

Ideally, the solar power generated by the photovoltaic system is used directly during sunny periods to charge the vehicle battery. Alternatively, it is fed into the grid and remunerated in accordance with your EEG agreement.

Solar-assisted charging ideally increases the proportion of green electricity used to charge your electric vehicle. The EEG levy has been €0.00 since 2022.

Separating third-party electricity volumes, meaning determining the proportion of electricity from your own photovoltaic system compared with electricity from the grid, is technically complex and may currently be disregarded due to the applicable legal framework.

There are tax benefits or exemptions from taxes and levies for self-consumption and the charging of company cars, including the resulting benefit in kind, until 2030.

In practice, the reimbursement of charging electricity for company cars has therefore been arranged so that the electricity is reimbursed at the household electricity price stated in your electricity tariff sheet, without separately accounting for the solar-generated share.

How are my charging electricity costs reimbursed under a dynamic electricity tariff? At what price per kWh?

Although dynamic tariffs promise hourly electricity exchange prices based on the day-ahead market, billing is often still based on an average price stated by the provider in the tariff sheet. This is generally because the provider guarantees this average price.

Instead of assigning your wallbox consumption to individual hours, an average energy price is therefore often used for the monthly bill, in addition to the basic charge, grid fees, levies and taxes. Please check your contract or tariff sheet to determine whether and to what extent billing is actually based on specific time periods.

We are working internally and with external partners on technical solutions that will allow the reimbursement of charging costs under dynamic electricity tariffs to be calculated accurately.

Until then, FIRMENLADEN will reimburse your charging electricity at the average price stated in your electricity tariff sheet.

Tip:
This can be combined effectively with solar power: use surplus solar electricity first and schedule the remaining charging for periods that are expected to be less expensive.
